Passed away peacefully surrounded by love at Carleton Lodge, in Nepean on Monday, September 23, 2024.
Peter was many things, a devoted husband to the love of his life, his Anniebell, a loving father, and grandfather. He always had a joke in his back pocket or a hug to anyone who needed it. He was a friend to all who knew him, and a beloved member of his community who served as the manager of the Merrickville LCBO for many years.
Peter loved spending time in his workshop, tinkering with his truck. It was his sanctuary, where he found joy in creating and fixing things. His love for working in his shop was just another way he showed his care and generosity, always willing to build, mend, or lend a hand to anyone who needed it. If he wasn’t in his shop he could either be found with his friends taking on whatever project came their way, out at the camp, chatting the day away, or shopping at Costco – one of his favourite pastimes.
Beloved husband of 36 years to Anne Kirkpatrick. Loving Father to Matthew (Kim), Laura (Marshy) and the late Adam.
Proud grandfather (Opah) to Emma, Scarlett, Zoe and Fiadh.
Son of the Late Emery and Clara LaBrash. Dear brother of Paul LaBrash (Jean), Jeannie Coleman ( Ivan) and previously deceased siblings MaryLou Aubry (Leo), Margaret Cuthbert ( Bernie), Ted LaBrash (Beverly), and Roger LaBrash (Dale). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends, especially Mike Barr.
A Catholic mass will be held at Saint Patrick’s Basilica at 10:30 a.m on Thursday, October 3rd, reception to follow at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club ( 1 Hunt Club Rd ) from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. All are welcome.
A special thanks to Carleton Lodge Long Term Care Home Rideau Village for providing the best support and care to Peter and his family that any of us could have asked for.
In Peter’s memory, donations to Parkinsons Canada in support of research into Parkinsons and Lewy body dementia would be appreciated.
