In loving memory of Mary “Dale” Samms:
Mary “Dale” Samms, 69, of Flat Bay, Newfoundland, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, in Stoney Creek, Ontario surrounded by her loving family. Dale was a proud Newfoundlander, no matter where she found herself, Newfoundland was home.
She is survived by her faithful partner Chestley Norman and her three beautiful daughters Tracey, Sharon, Jennifer and their husbands Michael, Frank and Kevin.
A cherished and devoted grandmother to her adoring grandchildren, Mickey and his husband Andy, Courtney, Madison, Ashley, Jordan, Skyler, Kayla, and Jake. She is also survived by her siblings Tracey, Elvis, Clayton, Elias, Della, Hazel and Caroline, as well as many in-laws, aunts, nieces, nephews’, cousins and friends.
Dale is preceded in death by her mother Bridget Young, her father Israel Young, her sister Thelma, her brothers Charlie and Eugene, her nieces Brandy and Lisa and her nephew PJ. May she find comfort in the warm embrace of her loved ones.
Dales three daughters were her greatest gifts in life. They were not just her daughters but her best friends. She could let down her guard when she was with them, and her wild personality would shine through.
Dale’s love for her family knew no bounds and she found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed sharing stories of her life and her many adventures. She shared her passion for cooking and baking with her grandchildren, teaching them how to make her famous homemade bread. Of course, no one will ever be able to replicate Dale’s bread. It will always be uniquely hers.
Dale was an animal lover at heart, she especially adored Chihuahuas. She loved to shop – maybe too much. She enjoyed spoiling her loved ones, always knowing what the perfect gift was. She loved bingo and darts, never shying away from a moment to show off her dart skills. Dale forever treasured her weekend getaways with her best friends, they were some of her fondest memories.
Dale will always be remembered for her quick wit, spunky personality and fiery attitude. She knew herself in her entirety. There was never a doubt about who she was or what she stood for. She was Dale. She had a strong will to fight, facing life’s challenges with courage and determination. Our cat with nine lives.
She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends. Dale’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy of love and laughter will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Dear Dale. You will always be remembered with love and fondness.
