Died at the age of 74. Loving wife to the late John Walz. Proud mother of Melissa Arseneault (Mike) and Darren (Jodi). Dear grandmother to Lily and Hudson Arseneault and Madisyn and Avery Walz. Sister to Bob Harris (Joanne), Dan Harris (Arlene), Lois Harris (Rob Wilson) and Sandra Thornton (Brian).
As the eldest daughter of the Harris family, Barb started her career at the Royal Bank of Canada in her late teens and stayed with the bank until she retired. While she lived in London her whole life, she loved to travel and visit with family, especially to hang out with the kids and friends at the trailer park in Long Point or Honey Harbour. Always kind and generous, Barb was happiest when she was helping her family get things done.
She had a great sense of humour and supported her grandkids in all their sporting endeavours. She had a big voice for a short woman, and everyone knew when Barb was cheering in the stands. Sports were a big part of Barb’s life. She was huge fan of the Toronto Blue Jays in the summer and Canadian hockey and curling in the winter. Always on the lookout for a bargain, Barb really enjoyed rummaging around all the thrift and consignment shops, hunting for treasures. Also known as “Fluffy” by her siblings, Barb will be sorely missed, but her spirit will live on in the wonderful memories we all made with her.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barbara’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
