Buckle, Mel
It is with great sadness we announce Mel’s passing at the age of 62. He was a beloved husband of 37 years, loving father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and a caring friend. Mel was one incredible man.
Survived by his wife Cindie, daughter Melissa, son- in- law Ben, parents Joan and Gerald, sisters Teresa (Keith Clayfield), Sharon (Marty Bell), many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and countless extended family and friends.
Mel is predeceased by his father and mother- in-law Ron and Ruth Austin and brother-in-law Gary Austin.
Mel was one of a kind. He was someone who lived his life as a true warrior. Mel had been battling lung cancer for the last 5 years, but never let that define who he was. He never let his illness stop him from what truly mattered in life. He was someone who demonstrated unwavering strength, someone who had a unique sense of humour and had a remarkable ability to always look at the positive joys in the most unfortunate moments of life.
Mel was a sheet metal mechanic by trade for over 40 years. He devoted his life up until the day he died working at Dean Thackeray Roofing. He was full of knowledge and gained a lot through all his life experiences, he truly could build or fix anything.
Mel enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, going on tropical vacations, doing his daily wordles and above all else watching his game shows alongside his pet bird, Woody. Mel was strong willed and stubborn at times but deep down he truly had a heart of gold.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to have had such an amazing care team who supported us throughout Mel’s journey. Special thank you to our incredible physicians Dr. Koroush Madani, Dr. Daniel Glick, Dr. Hamid Mithoowani and to the best schedule/care coordinator Christine Cooper Persaud.
