Surrounded by her family, Jennifer Ann Taylor (née Stonehouse) passed
away on December 20, 2023.
Born on March 15, 1951, in Hamilton, Ontario, Jenn—preceded in death
by her parents, Charles and Florice Stonehouse—leaves behind a legacy
of love, strength, and cherished memories. She is survived by her
beloved husband, Norm, of Port Sydney and her children: daughter
Andrea of Venice, FL, and son Christopher and his wife, Alicia, of
Huntsville. Grandma will be deeply missed by her adoring
granddaughters, Rhea, Skye, and Evelyn. Devoted brother Bruce
Stonehouse and his wife, Carol, of Lindsay, as well as numerous
beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family, also mourn her passing.
Jenn’s journey began in Hamilton, but it was at the age of 5 that she
moved to Port Sydney, Ontario, where she grew up first near the beach
and later on Deer Lake Road. She worked as a teenager at Divine Lake
Lodge (now Trillium Resort and Spa) and later at the Royal Bank,
showcasing her dedication and hard work from a young age.
Jenn met her husband, Norm, during their high school years at
Huntsville High, and they married at the Christ Anglican Church in
Port Sydney in 1970. They moved around a bit and eventually built a
life and a home on Bridgedale Road in Port Sydney in 1976, a stone’s
throw from her childhood home.
While raising her children, Jenn found fulfillment in her role as a
dedicated caregiver. As her children grew, she joined Norm at the
family business, Taylor Floor Coverings, where she brought her passion
for design and sociable nature to every aspect of her work. In her own
lighthearted way, she considered herself the “boss of everything.”
Jenn was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a loyal friend.
She cherished her lifelong friendships, and frequent outings and
gatherings with friends were a highlight of her life.
In 2008, Jenn and Norm embraced retirement together. Never one to
remain idle for long, they embarked on a new adventure, spending
winters in Florida. Their time was split between Port Sydney, sharing
moments with their son’s family, and the warmth of Florida, where they
cherished moments with their daughter and granddaughter.
Jennifer Ann Taylor will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and
the love she poured into her family and friends. Her legacy lives on
in the countless lives she touched.
A celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held in late Spring, please revisit this site for details as they become arranged.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre.
Rest in peace, dear Jenn. You will forever be in our hearts, and the
laughter and love you brought to our lives will echo in our memories.
