It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Hubert Cheffer on May 24th, 2024 at the age of 74 years at Cornwall Hospice following a brief battle with cancer.
Beloved husband and best friend of Irene (Valade) of 51 years. Loving father of Eric (Shannon) and Stephane (Heather) and treasured Pappa to Liam, Lily and Emma (Tyler).
Cherished brother of Regean, Lise Scheffer, Alain (Shirley), Suzanne Pilon (Riel) and Louie (Carole). He will be dearly missed by his mother-in-law Meriza Valade (late Mathias) his in-laws, Carmen Beauregard (Lionel), Denise Leduc (late Yvon), Roger Valade (Colleen) and Fran Valade (late Richard).
He is predeceased by his parents Bruno and Alice Cheffer (Lalonde) and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Hubert was a quiet man and a man of few words and will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended relatives. He holds a special place in the hearts of his lifelong friends with whom he played a lot of golf and many good games of Texas Hold’Em over the years. He will be forever missed.
As per Hubert’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Tuesday June 4th, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888) followed by a Memorial Service in the chapel of the Funeral Home at 11a.m.
The family would like to thank the nurses from Home and Community Care Services, Saint Elizabeth and the PSWS from Bayshore for the attention and care given to us over the last few months.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Cornwall Hospice for their compassion and care given to Hubert and our family during his final days.
