Coburn: James “Jim” Ernest died on August 22, 2024 at OSMH with his cherished companion and loving partner Jean Johnson by his side. He was pre-deceased by his late wife Sharon Coburn (Hancock), loving brother of Nancy Berrie, pre-deceased Alyce Rogers, Peggy (Joe) Smith, Donna Bryant and the Hancock Family. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held at Mangan Funeral Home on September 12, 2024 at 10:00 A.M., followed by the service at 11:00 A.M. Reception will be held at the Beacan Presbyterian Church immediately afterwards. Parking available at church. If so desired memorial donations to the Brock Foodbank or the OSMH Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Jim was a creative man with a quick wit and many talents. He could sing a song, play a guitar, write a poem, ski a mountain, play golf and give a speech. At an early age he dismantled and reassembled the family TV, always thinking outside of the box while being in one. After high school his knack for mathematical calculations led him to being hired on a research ship cruising the Great Lakes. His engineering skills developed into building and designing houses as well as planning housing projects, traffic systems and roadways.
A lover of nature, dogs, family and friends, Jim lived a full life. Being a private, self-reliant man, he kept his struggles to himself. Despite his challenges he always considered himself a lucky man who lived a life of gratitude and joy. We were and still are touched by his presence.
