Obituary for
Myrna Clusiaux
Clusiaux, Myrna Gloria (Rushton) 82 of Truro Heights.
While surrounded by family, Thursday February 29, 2024, God in all His mercy and wisdom called our mother home.
Born on August 8, 1941, Myrna was the eldest daughter of L. Eldon and Ida Rushton, Westchester, NS.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Donna-Jean (David) Bauer, Pikeville, NC; devoted son, Robert (Abby) Clusiaux, Londonderry, NS; three cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Grayson and Cy (Bill); two treasured sisters, Carolyn Rushton, Truro and Jean (Carl) MacDonald, Truro Heights; a sister-in-law, Marilyn E. Rushton; a niece, Heather and three nephews; Donald, Deverne and Rodney; an uncle, Hubert, PEI; an aunt, Georgie and many adored cousins.
Myrna was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Gerald D. Rushton.
After graduating from Great Village High School, Myrna furthered her education by attending and successfully completing studies at Bethany Bible College. She began her communications career at Maritime Tel & Tel, but the city life soon “called” her and she ventured to Toronto, ON where she rose through the ranks at Bell Canada, retiring in 1994.
Returning to Nova Scotia, Myrna spent her time with those she loved, doing things she enjoyed. Cross-country skiing across a field in Londonderry or piecing together a puzzle across a table of friends. She was a beloved adherent of the Truro Heights United Baptist Church and a faithful servant of her Saviour Jesus Christ. Myrna was a talented seamstress making or mending our clothes. She liked to quilt and knit, making mitten and hat sets for donations. A whiz at crosswords or cryptograms and just as skilled a card player, she enjoyed watching game shows and winning thousands in prizes. Myrna was musically inclined, mastering both the piano and accordion. She loved to dance and was always eager to attend live music jams. A great cook and baker- no one makes banana bread like Mom! She was very fond of elephants and acquired a vast collection over many years. Myrna traveled near and far experiencing people and places and enjoyed as much volunteering within her own community.
Myrna was our family’s matriarch, a strong, wise woman, who loved us beyond measure.
Dedicated to her children, she laid the foundation for honesty, respect, and empathy.
A compassionate daughter, Myrna cared for her mother until she passed in 2008.
As a sister, she was always someone to turn to who would lend an ear and keep an open heart with a positive attitude.
She valued her friendships, of which she had many, long-lasting and true.
A refined woman with a polished exterior.
A humble woman with the kindest heart.
Myrna was a blessing to all those she encountered. Each of us in our own way will always hear her sweet, soft voice and feel the warmth of her love.
We would like to thank her church family for their continued prayers and encouragement. The residents at Bayview Homestead for their friendship to our mom over the years, the nurses, CCA’s and meal deliverers at the VON for services provided, and also her medical team and their staff in Truro and Halifax for providing care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Truro Heights United Baptist Church, The Thirsty Church, Colchester SPCA or a charity of your choice.
Cremation has taken place, a visitation will be held on Friday, March 8th from 6-8pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, NS.
Her life will be remembered and celebrated on Saturday, March 9th at 1pm in the Truro Heights United Baptist Church, 343 Truro Heights Road, Truro Heights, NS with Rev. Connie Stewart officiating.
