John ‘Johnny’ Smith
1962-2024
It is with the deepest sadness that the family of John
“Johnny” Earl Smith of Hillside, Trenton, NS,
announces his sudden passing on Thursday August 15, 2024, at his
home.
Johnny was born in New Glasgow on March 24, 1962, one of
eight children of the late Jack and Marion Smith. Johnny was educated
at the Hillside School and worked many jobs over the years in the
woods. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and
hunting.
Johnny was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Marion; his
brothers: Sydney, Ronny, Stephen and Billy. He is survived by his
sisters: Hilda Feltmate; Frances (Robin) Alexander; and Cindy (Danny)
White; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand
nephews.
The family would like to thank Johnny’s neighbours,
Hughie and the MacKenzie family, for all their help over the years;
Gary Sparks for his great taxi service; and a good friend, Hazel
Stedman.
Fergie MacKay will offer words of comfort at a private family
graveside service to be held at 1pm on Sunday, at Hillside
Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral
Home.
