Robert Keefe Obituary
With broken hearts we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and beloved friend, Robert “Bobby” Keefe, age 78, on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Cape Breton Hospice in Sydney.
Bobby was born in Sydney on December 6, 1945, he was the son of the late Margaret (Cameron) Keefe and Lloyd “Larry” Keefe. Bobby grew up in Florence until marrying Paula (Rogers) and moved to North Sydney. He worked in the coal mines for 35 years, both Prince and Princess Collierys where he met many of his dear friends. He was an all-star ball player in his youth and continued to love ball but his true love was hunting and fishing. He took great pride in telling everyone he taught the Rogers boys everything they knew about hunting and his son and daughter about fishing with all the memories to go along with that. After his illness, he loved to go to the boy’s cabin to cook for the crew and never missed a hunt. In his final months he loved to go with Kevin, who he loved dearly to Big Island, and go to the trailer in Mira.
Bobby leaves behind his wife of 55 years Paula, daughter Laurie (Anthony), his son David, granddaughter Sydney, his pride and joy, brother Lloyd (Debbie), sisters Patricia (Dave), Laura (Lloyd) and Cheryl (Mike), along with many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Margaret Keefe MacDonald and Larry Keefe, his grandparents, his infant daughter Ann Denise Keefe, brother Billy, sisters Blanche, Marilyn and Jamie, step-dad Roddie MacDonald, mother-in-law Mary Rogers.
Bobby was known for always helping others and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
There will be a visitation for Bobby from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Cape Breton Hospice.
