John Alexander Burt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, at the age of 84 in Central Okanagan Hospice House, Kelowna, BC. Born in Maidstone, SK, on February 5, 1940, John lived a life rich in family, faith, and a passion for cars.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Erika; children, Grant (Sarah) and Stephanie (George); and cherished grandchildren, Natalie and Maya. He is also remembered by his siblings Kathy, Marg, Alfred, and Lois, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brothers Art and Ralph, and sister Muriel.
A true automotive enthusiast, John spent his career in autobody work, and was recognized around body shops for his expertise, his skill in rebuilding cars, and his habit of collecting auto parts. His passion for cars and his beloved Ford Mustang 5.0 was matched only by his dedication to his family and his faith. A soft-spoken man with a dry sense of humour, John was generous with his time and love, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a story.
Deeply rooted in his faith, John relied on the Lord for guidance throughout his life. He cherished his friendships and found joy in gathering with loved ones, where car talk was a favourite pastime. He will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories shared by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House Kelowna (Central Okanagan Hospice House).
A Memorial Service, with Pastor David Wunderlich officiating, will be held on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM (PST), at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service, a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter.
