It is with broken hearts, that we the family announce the passing of Bernard Louis “Frenchie” DeCoste, 75 on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in West Arichat, he was the son of the late Ernest & Emma (Mury) DeCoste.
Bernie was a hardworking man for his family and would help anyone at any time. He did several odd jobs (especially mowing lawns) and was always on the go around Glace Bay on his bicycle. Bernie enjoyed dancing at the local legions.
He is survived by his wife, Eliza (Oakes) DeCoste, children, Bernie, Christopher (Cathy), Corey, Nancy Budden (Mark), ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Bernie will be sadly missed by his siblings, Lorraine, Agnes, Tilda, Alexander, Donelda, Dennis, Emilia as well as many brothers and sisters in law.
He was predeceased by brothers, Napoleon, Duncan, sister, Maurina and a grandson, C.J.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 9th, 2023 at 6 p.m. in Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 78, Dominion.
A special thank you to EHS and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Memorial donations in memory of Bernie may be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank.
