Obituary of William Gordon Price
It is with great sadness that the family of William Gordon Price announce his sudden passing at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Tuesday October 11, 2022. Gord was born on Brunette Island and later resettled to Fortune.
Gord was predeceased by parents William & Sarah Price and brother-in-law Andy Ellis.
Leaving to mourn Effie, his loving partner for the last seven years; son Matthew; daughter Melodie King and her husband Andy who was like a song to Gordon. Also his precious grandchildren Blain, Tristan, Evan, Olivia, Abby, Austin & Sophia; Effie’s Children Wilson (Jack), Jeremy (Tonya Lynn), Jason (Nicole ), Lorelei (Colin), Jennifer (Shawn); Effie’s grandchildren who always called him Poppy Gord, Preston, Cole, Sarah, Mcguire, Graydon, Jensen; sisters Marion (Oscar), Irene, Ruth (Aubrey); brother Lloyd (Carolyn); Also leaving behind a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends and co-workers.
Gord spent many years as a lighthouse keeper on Green Island, Marticot Island, Burin Island and Cape Bonavista (which was his favorite). He loved been by the sea. Gord spent this past thanksgiving weekend with Effie, her son Wilson & his partner Jack. He was always on the go and loved to hang out in the shed exchanging stories with his buddies. He was a true Newfoundlander that loved Boating and Fishing. Gord made friends with everyone and loved to yarn and make people laugh. Most of all he loved being called Poppa by all his grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at All Saints Anglican Church in Fortune, on Wednesday from 7-9PM & on Thursday for family & close friends from 10AM-12PM.
Funeral service will take place on Thursday at 2PM from All Saints Anglican Church in Fortune with inturnment following at All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Fortune.
