Rowe, William Terrance – known to all as Bill
January 21, 1943 to December 25, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family announces his death after a brief illness.
Son of Lorne and Eve Rowe (predeceased), and husband of Roberta Rowe. He is survived by his wife Roberta and two sons: Marc (Jamie) of Victoria, B.C. and Jordie (April) of Sudbury, ON. He has three grandchildren whom he adored: Riley, Kole, and Nora.
Bill’s extended family included Wayne (Marilyn) of Gooderham, ON, Ken (Andrea) of Comox, B.C., Sharron of Sudbury, ON, Darlene of Oklahoma, U.S.A. and Heather of Edmonton, A.B.
Bill graduated with a Masters Degree in Social Work from Carleton University in Ottawa, ON. He then joined the staff of the Children’s Aid Society of the District of Sudbury and Manitoulin where he was employed as a Supervisor for 35 years. He then was Director of Haven House on Manitoulin Island, and finally as a Counsellor with F.G.I Counselling Services.
Over the course of his adult life, Bill served on many boards and committees in the Sudbury community – the Community Living Board and the Board of Huntington University to name but two.
Bill was a member of St. Mark’s United Church and served on the Church Council for many years. At the time of his passing, he was chairperson of St. Mark’s Church Council, a position he had held for many years. He participated enthusiastically in all fundraising events from pancake suppers to blueberry socials.
Bill had other personal interests the chief one being that of harness racing. He would spend hours studying racing programs, the horses, and their riders.
A celebration of his life will be held at St. Mark’s United Church, 45 Walford Road, Sudbury, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 2pm, followed by a reception. Friends may gather at the church after 1:30pm, Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Mark’s United Church.
This wonderful man will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
