Susan “Sue” Fukumoto-Stanley
July 29, 1951 –
November 1, 2022
Sue Fukumoto-Stanley, 71, passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2022, with her family by her side in Toronto, Ontario.
A visitation for Sue will be held on November 12, 2022, from 2-5 p.m. at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St, Mississauga.
Sue, or Suzy as she was known by her dearest, was born in Hamilton to Kazuo and Jeanne Fukumoto. Her father was an accomplished business owner in the TV & radio industry; her mother was a popular administrator who worked in real estate. Both grew up as prisoners of war while interned in British Columbia during WWII.
Suzy was a passionate and glowing social soul that loved her friends, travelling, style, and everything arts and fashion. She graduated from the Fashion Technique & Design program at Sheridan College in 1973 before starting her career as a buyer and designer of children’s apparel. After quickly refining her skills in Merchandising and Design, she shifted into Women’s apparel, which is where she would specialize for the rest of her career. Suzy became a proud and devoted mother while leading an extremely successful career as a self-made fashion executive. She later retired from her fashion career in 2016, but continued her role as a beloved wife, mother, and daughter until her passing.
Suzy dedicated much of her time and energy in life to supporting her family. She had tremendous aspirations to enjoy her healthy life in retirement, and wanted nothing more than to see her family grow. Suzy was especially delighted with the recent marriage of her son Zac, and was overjoyed to welcome her daughter-in-law Keejoo to their family.
Suzy made it a priority to live life to the fullest. She loved yoga, golfing, gardening, and swimming in her pool. Her confidence, radiance, and vibrant personality brought joy and energy to everyone she was around. Suzy was always at her best when socializing with loved ones and travelling the world.
Suzy is survived and will be missed by her husband, Stan; son and daughter-in-law, Zac & Keejoo; Mother, Jeanne; and her many beloved in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Donations may be sent to the Canadian Neuroendocrine Tumour Society or Cancer charity of choice in lieu of flowers or gifts.
