Stephen Laforest 2022

Obituary
Stephen Laforest
1971 – 2022
Stephen John Noe’ Laforest of Miramichi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on September 15, 2022 at the age of 51 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Schefferville, Quebec, on May 22, 1971, he was the son of Elizabeth (Crocker) Moskatov and Adrian Laforest.
Stephen lived in Ontario for many years but considered Hearts Delight, Newfoundland with his grandparents to be his home. He had many jobs starting at a young age but settled into a career in the automotive industry. He was an entrepreneur, starting a successful consulting company in 2010. He then moved to Miramichi NB and found his two great loves, his spouse, Eden, and O’Donaghue’s Irish Pub. He loved being with people, he loved to entertain, to share stories and he loved to laugh, he was also always up for a good debate. He cared deeply for the staff and customers who quickly became friends. He had a passion for many things, knowledge, muscle cars, music, travel, good food, his family, his friends and his community. He was a born leader and would accept nothing less than the best from those he knew could do better. If he believed in you he made you believe it too. He could make things happen and “no” was not an option. He was adventurous, generous and full of life and he lived it his way. He will be greatly missed.
Stephen is survived by his spouse, Eden McDougall; mother, Elizabeth Moskatov (Stephen) of Little Shemogue, NB; four daughters: Rebecca Laforest of Ottawa, ON Scarlett Laforest of Oxford Mills, ON, Courtney McGinn (Jared) of Chilliwack, BC and Taylor McDougall of Toronto, ON; one grandchild, Eleanor McGinn; one brother, Paul Laforest (Christen) nephew, Carter; niece: Paige, of Arnprior, ON;
He also leaves to mourn his in-laws, John Bracken (Anne) of Miramichi brother-in-law Leigh Bracken (Paula) of Chetywand, BC; nieces: Crystal Walls (Max), Maddison and Chloe Walls of Miramichi, his many friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his grandparents: Baxter and Jessie Crocker of Heart’s Delight, NL and John Noe’ and Cecile Laforest of Saint John, NB.
Visitation will occur at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Wednesday, September 21st from 2pm-5pm and funeral service will follow at 6pm with Victor Somers officiating. Interment will be held in Newfoundland at a later date.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kpogo, for his exceptional care and kindness. They would also like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for Stephen during his illness, the oncology teams at Miramichi regional hospital and George Dumont hospital in Moncton. A very heartfelt thank you also goes to NB extra mural who provided care and support at home and finally to the palliative care nurses who’s compassion will forever be remembered.
