Peter Roy Covey
August 16, 1967 – September 29, 2022
Peter Roy Covey, 55, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away on September 29th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Peter was born to Joyce Lydia (Burchell) and George Thomas Covey of French Village on August 16th, 1967. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1985 and was employed at the World Trade Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for nearly 30 years. Peter was happiest on the beach and loved to jump waves and build sand pits. He also enjoyed golfing and was a dedicated son who spent Saturdays with his mother, Joyce.
Peter is survived by his loving partner, Janet, with whom he has shared a beautiful and joyous life since 2004. He is also survived by Tara (Wade), Dylon (Taryn), Hayley (Taylor), and Gabriel (MJ), who Peter loved as his own children. Peter is survived by three grandchildren, Thomas, Izzy, and Bennett, who held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his sisters, Mildred (Eric), Sandra, Faye, and Judith (Geno); brothers, Michael, Bernard (Linda), and Vincent (Michele); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Peter was predeceased by his mother, Joyce, and his father, George.
Peter was known for his kindness, good humour, strength, and an endless fount of love for those closest to him. He will be remembered fondly and missed greatly.
A public visitation will take place on Friday, October 14th, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Dartmouth Funeral Home. The memorial service will remain private and occur on Saturday, October 15th, 2022. The family requests donations in support of Myeloma Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society, in lieu of sending flowers.
