Paul R. Sweezey
1945 – 2022
Paul Richard Sweezey of Miramichi passed away on April 9, 2022 at the age of 76.
Born in Chatham, on June 13, 1945, he was the son of the late George and Bessie (Orr) Sweezey. Paul was a school teacher for 35 years. He taught in Chatham, England, and Petitcodiac. While teaching at Petitcodiac Regional School, he was the recipient of the 2000-2001 Prime Ministers Award. Paul taught English writing and theatre arts, but drama was his true passion.
He attended St. Andrew’s United Church and was very active in his church and was well loved and respected by all who knew him. In regards to gardening he had a green thumb and enjoyed every minute.
Paul is survived by three brothers: Art Sweezey (Barbara) of Moncton, Doug Sweezey (Susan) of Miramichi and David Sweezey (Rebecca) of Quispamsis; many nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and one nephew Christopher.
There will be no visitation by request. A public funeral service will take place at St. Andrew’s United Church, 188 Wellington St., Miramichi on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 2 pm with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Interment will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church Community Kitchen, Pine Grove Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
