Obituary of Patrick Burke, New Waterford
Patrick Burke, 81, passed away at New Waterford Hospital on the morning of Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Pat was born in New Waterford , Nova Scotia, on September 1, 1941.
New Waterford was his home all his life while working in the coal mines.
He was married to Lorraine MacPherson and they raised six children; James and Diane of New Waterford, Denise, Rose, Lisa and DJ of Ontario; as well as 12 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
In his later life, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his good friend, Patricia and their dog, Prince.
Patrick was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Tessie (Tighe) and brother, Joe.
He is also survived by his brothers, Gerald, Bernie, Danny and Eldon; sisters, Mary (MacNeil), Theresa (MacKinnon) and Vange (Wareham).
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford with Deacon Lorne MacNeil officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lingan. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Cape Breton Shelter- Nova Scotia SPCA. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
