Michael Allen Mike Lewis 19612022

Michael Allen “Mike” Lewis
1961-2022
It is with great
sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our Papa,
father, son and spouse, Michael Allen “Mike” Lewis, age 60,
of Middleton, formerly of Billtown. Mike passed away on October 13,
2022, suddenly, at home, with his partner of 20 years, Debbie and his
dogs by his side.
In his earlier years
he was an avid hockey player, being a CK Gator. He had a passion for
motorcycles, and 4-wheel drive pulls. He owned his own business
– Mikes Auto Refinishing, and loved renovating. Mike enjoyed
the simple things in life. If he could leave anyone with words of
wisdom it would be just that. Mike had the biggest heart and loved his
family and close friends. Just having their presence was the greatest
gift anyone could ever give him.
Mike purchased a
beautiful 35-acre property on the Annapolis River with Debbie that
quickly became their own piece of paradise. He never wanted to leave,
and didn’t often unless he was making a “quick trip to
Brier to see Ev”. Mike had the greenest thumb around, he could
tell you a story about every tree, flower, and animal on his land. He
would spend hours feeding and watching all the wildlife on his
property and taking in all the finest things that nature had to offer.
He took great pleasure in raising Monarch butterflies and releasing
them every year. Next to his own family, Hot Wheels were his passion.
He collected them from everywhere around the world. He was known to
his Hot Wheels family as the Hot Wheels Godfather because there was no
question about them that he couldn’t answer.
Mike was happiest when
he was sitting by the river, with the BBQ lit and a drink in his hand
– Amanda, Ayden, Debbie and the dogs by his side. Mike could cook a
meal like no other, and took great satisfaction in doing that
for anyone. He was famous for his seafood chowder, and if you
were lucky enough to have a bowl, or two you understood
why.
Papa’s pride
and joy was his grandson, Ayden. They shared a special bond like no
other. They admired each other. Papa always made sure to show Ayden
all the great things that life has to offer and made sure to spoil him
rotten every chance he got. One of their greatest memories together
was when he had the honor of taking Ayden to his favorite place, Brier
Island – for his very first boat ride to fish and see the
whales. This quickly became a family tradition and something that they
both looked forward to every year. Ayden and Papa had many early
morning phone chats over the years (both of them got up at the crack
of dawn). Papa even learned how to FaceTime! Ayden knew his Papa was
always there for him, and he will be forever grateful for that and
hold onto all the special moments that the two of them
shared.
Left to cherish the
memories and carry on his legacy are his spouse, Debbie (Cooper);
daughter, Amanda Lewis; grandson, Ayden; mother, Anne (Crandall);
sisters, Lori and Tina and many other extended family
members.
He was predeceased by
his father, Allen Lewis; stepfather, Basil Crandall, and sister Jana
Lewis.
Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation or funeral service, by request.
A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of donations, hug your family, have a cold one, enjoy a good
meal, and just appreciate the small things. You never know when they
can change.
“Here I
am tied down and homesick,
And that
old wind just blows so freely
Why
can’t it take me along
Mmm-mmm carry me
With
you ramblin’ wind
It’s the place you’ve
been
I wish I was home
again”
