Obituary
A bright light has left us far too soon. It is with immense sadness that the family of Megan Olivia Hubbard announce her passing which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Sunday, August 14, 2022 following a valiant battle with cancer. Megan was born on May 7, 2002 and was the daughter of Jarvis (Lori-Ann) Hubbard and Theresa King.
Megan never let her diagnosis dictate her life. She shouldered each setback in treatment with a maturity that would be envied by those much older and celebrated periods of better health with activities she loved and time with family and friends. In all of the trials she had the support of her soulmate, her father, as well as many others, both family and friends who rallied and surrounded her in a circle of love. Her last year was spent doing all the travelling that she could, accompanied by great friends. Paris will have to wait.
In addition to her parents, Megan is survived by her bonus grandfather, Al Benson, along with her aunts and uncles: Brenda (Joel Dunnett), Kathy (Kevin Siddall), Georgina Hubbard (Colin MacMillan), George Hubbard (Christine Loch), Alice (Milton Wybenga), Eleanor Hubbard (Glenn Davis), Willa (Roger Frenette), Shelly Hubbard, Maxine (Charlie) Keenan, Wayne (Philo) King, and Derrick King : bonus uncles, Jamie (Rose) Benson, Jeff (Joan) Benson, Randy (Kim) Benson, Stewart (Selena) Benson along with too many cousins to name. She is also survived by her brother Evan Barrett and sisters, Amy Baker and Jennifer Barrett and their families.
Megan is predeceased by her paternal grandparents; George and Blanche (Somers) Hubbard, her maternal grandparents; Aubrey and Beulah King and uncle Rodney King, cousins Jason Wybenga and Brittany Hubbard-Frenette and her bonus grandmother Ellen Benson.
Megan will be resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Friday, August 19th, 2022 beginning at 12:00 noon followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM in the Fundy Chapel. Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery. Please join us for a reception at the funeral home afterwards to continue to remember and celebrate Megan..
In lieu of flowers, please keep Megan’s light shining by directing your memorial donations towards the IWK Hematology Clinic, the Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology Unit, The Braedon Foundation or the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
