April 21, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Maxime Bouchard on Thursday, April 21st. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, he decided to part on his own terms and he left us peacefully, surrounded by his close family at home. Maxime is survived by his beloved wife Susi, their two sons Daniel and Mathias, his mother Pauline, his brother Stephane, his niece Cameron, his brother-in-law Roland and his mother-in-law Emma. He also leaves a wide circle of family, dear friends and colleagues.
Maxime was Professor at the Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Centre and at the Department of Biochemistry at McGill University. He was a world-renowned scientist and held the Canada Research Chair in Developmental Genetics of the Urogenital System. With his research, he significantly contributed to the fundamental understanding of how mechanisms that control normal embryonic tissue and organ development can deviate to drive cancer.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the medical team at the Cedars Cancer Centre at the MUHC and to the palliative care teams from the CLSC René-Cassin and Nova Home Care.
A memorial will take place on May 7th, from 3-5 pm at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, QC, H2V 2P9, followed by a reception in the same building. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Maxime’s memory to the NOVA Home Care at www.novasoinsadomicile.ca/
