In Celebration of
Margaret Eddisford Légaré
August 21, 1925 –
January 18, 2022
Margaret passed away from natural causes on January 18, 2022 at Verdun General Hospital during a brief stay. She was in her 96th year and lived through The Great Depression, WW2, losing her husband at the age of 40, and lastly, a world pandemic.
Many will remember her smiling face from her years of working on Wellington Street at Card Town (later changed to Plume au Vent). Virtually everyone in Verdun had the pleasure of meeting her there. Once retired, she became an avid bowler and dart player for almost 40 years. Only the pandemic stopped her from being active.
Margaret joins her dear late husband Phil Légaré. She was the beloved mother of Lisa Rawas (Henry Rawas) and the recently passed Robert “Bob” Légaré. She was a dear “Granny” to granddaughters Patricia Légaré and Dominique Légaré (Eric McDonald) and “Nannie” to grandsons David Rawas and Tristan Rawas. She was also a great-grandmother to Kaïla and Leixia. Margaret was the last remaining sibling of the Eddisford clan — May, Ernest, Allen, Jack, Edna, and twin sister, Thelma. She leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews and their children.
A special thank you to her best friend, May, for her companionship and support through thick and thin and to Andrew for his support!
There will be a small family memorial later this year to celebrate Margaret’s life.
