Laura Minnie MacDonald
1942-2022
Mrs. Laura Minnie MacDonald, the wife of Leonard MacDonald of Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on May 12, 2022, at the age of 80.
Born on March 26, 1942, in Millstream, Kings County, New Brunswick, Laura was the daughter of both the late Frank and Eunice (Adams) Belding. She was a Homemaker. A loving mother, caring, and always there when you needed her. She was also a member of St. Stephen’s United Church, Black River Bridge.
Laura is survived by her husband, Leonard; two daughters: Valerie MacDonald of Black River Bridge, NB, and Gail MacDonald (Yves Manuel) of Baie du Vin, NB; three sons: Wade MacDonald (Ruth) of Miramichi, Gary MacDonald of Black River Bridge, and Rodney MacDonald of Stouffville, ON; one sister, Diane MacDonald (Dale) of Point aux Carr, NB; three brothers: Lawrence Adams (Audrey) of Little Branch, NB, Frank Belding (Grace) of Lower Newcastle, and Jarvis Belding of Ottawa, ON; three grandchildren: Connie, Elaina, and Albert; nine great-grandchildren: Taylor, Trevor, Sean, Kaylee, Jason, Catherine, Jorja, Matthew, and Andrew; as well as one great-great-grandchild, Lyla. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides both her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers: James Belding, Wilfred Belding, Tony Belding, and Grant Belding; sister, Sheila Kolody; and beloved grandson, Tyler MacDonald.
A public visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, Miramichi, NB, on Tuesday, May 17th from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM. A public funeral service was held at St. Stephen’s United Church, Black River Bridge on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 11 AM with The Reverend David Allan officiating. Music for the service was provided by Barbara Somers and the Loggieville – Black River Pastoral Charge Joint Choir and the hymns were “How Great Thou Art”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace” and the recessional hymn was “We Shall Go Out with Hope of Resurrection”. The lighting of the Christ candle and Memorial candles was by Gail MacDonald. The scripture readings and poem “Farewell My Friends” was read by Tanya Duplessis. Please note that church leadership requests that masks be worn upon entry and exit of the church. Honorary pallbearers were Laura’s family and friends. Pallbearers were Chris Harris, Albert MacDonald, Stephen MacDonald, Trevor MacDonald, Denis Robichaud and Sean Robichaud. Interment was in the Black River Community Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Miramichi SPCA, Black River Community Cemetery, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
