Kenny’s Obituary
Wilson, Kenny – 88, Upper Malagash / Pugwash, passed away October 31, 2022, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Richmond, he was a son of the late John Kenneth and Neva (Canfield) Wilson. Kenny started working at the Malagash Salt Mine in 1950, he would later help in the construction of the new Pugwash Salt Mine where he worked from 1959 to 1989. Following his mining career he owned and operated Wilson’s Auto Supply in Pugwash and K&R Restaurant in Tatamagouche. He was a founding member of the Pugwash Search and Rescue, a former president of the Malagash Community Hall and the Malagash Heritage Society. Kenny was an active member of the Malagash community and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He was a kind, fun loving man, a talented musician, singer and songwriter performing at many local events. In October, 2006, he received the Maritimer of the Week Award from CTV News, Live at 5. He is survived by his wife, Lynn I. (Marshall) Wilson; children, Carol (Frank) Tattrie, Bass River, Daniel Wilson, Malagash, Glen (Cathey) Wilson, Malagash Mines, Tracey (David) LeBlanc, River Hebert; grandchildren, Tanya (Mark), Jason (Carol), Aslinn, Allisa, Devon, Wyatt, Jonathon, Meagan (Cedric), Natalie (Thomas); great-grandchildren, Byron, Seth, Cameron, Clara, Jason, Abigail, Caylee; brothers, Ralph Wilson, Dieppe, NB, Douglas (Gloria) Mattatall, Onslow; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Lee Wilson in infancy; step father, Thaxter Mattatall, sisters, Kathleen Gladwin, Georgina Morash, Irene Myers, Thaxena Whitman. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 6, at Mundle’s Funeral Home. Reverend Connie McNamara officiating with burial in Monument Hill Cemetery, Richmond, at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Malagash Miner’s Museum
