Obituary
Judith Margaret Mulligan (McLean), age 77, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022 at the Dauphin General Hospital.
Born on April 4th, 1945 in Dauphin, Manitoba to Jack and Alice McLean and was the 3rd of 5 children growing up on the family farm northwest of Dauphin.
Judy’s passion was her garden, her work, her family and mostly her puzzles that she would spend countless hours on until the last piece was placed. Starting her working career as a car hop at the local A&W and later on working at ShopEasy and Extra Foods grocery stores becoming shop steward for UFCW until she retired.
On August 18, 1962 she married James Ronald Mulligan and quickly started their family of 4 sons.
Judy and her husband loved meeting new people and met many of the people around Dauphin through their love of gardening. Mulligan’s Garden took most of their spare time as they supplied fresh produce to many of the local restaurants and at the local Farmer’s market.
During the summer there were vehicle after vehicle pulling into the farm looking for the freshest produce around. Judy was proud of their garden and was always happy to sell at any time day or night. After working hard all summer Judy and her husband would spend the winters down South in Texas and Mexico, with Judy being the co-pilot as they pulled their 5th wheel all the way to the Baja Peninsula. (There are stories) They made friends everywhere they went which she missed dearly when she couldn’t travel anymore.
Judy was always a very strong woman and always stood up for what she believed in, just ask her husband and/or her children. In fact, she made a promise to live until their 60th anniversary which was celebrated this past August.
Judy is preceded by her parents Jack and Alice McLean, her sister Thelma and her in-laws Leonard and Emily Mulligan.
Judy is survived by her husband Jim, siblings Cecil (Karen), Linda (Poul), Noreen and Murray (Eileen). Children Kevin (Lucy), Kerry (Amy), Ron (Kendra) and Rob (Terri), 13 grand-children and 12 great grand-children. Judy will forever be in our hearts, her calm and gentle guidance always in our minds.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated. Her final message was to live life to the fullest while you can.
