It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph “UJ” Johnson on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the age of 64.
Loving father of Kristen (Jared) VanRuitenburg and Karrie (Brandaughn) Johnson. Proud Grandpa of Nora VanRuitenburg and Ivy Phillips. He is predeceased by his loving mother, Phyllis Johnson, and father Franklin Johnson. Dear brother of Mavis (Jerry), Leslie (Tom), and Thomas (Trish). Beloved uncle of Michael (Melissa), Gregory (Jana), Kevin (Jessica), Shawna (Ajay), and his great nieces and nephews. He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Kelly Singles. Also loved by the entire Bernard clan and many close friends, especially Norm and Shelley Bergeron, Randy and Irene Reiss, Mike and Brenda DeRosier, Brian Lindsay and Kim Swass, Cindy Bernard, Andy Wilson, Bill Baker and so many more.
After successfully running a small business in Sarnia for many years, Joe was recently retired. He loved his family and enjoyed taking care of his garden, his cats, and had a great passion for guitar and music.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday November 25, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, a livestream option for the memorial will be available through the Smith Funeral Home website.
