With great sadness we announce the passing of John Raymond (Jonk) Melnick on Monday, July 25, 2022 in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 70 years.
John was born & raised in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He lived in Ontario for many years before finally settling in Calgary.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing & traveling across the country. He also loved spending time with those he loved, especially the kids. He loved telling them stories about his days as a coal miner & laborer, telling them about the many projects he completed including working on the Skydome. John had such a big heart & was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
John is survived by his common-law wife Donna Fleming; sons, John Michael (Rhonda) Melnick, Darren Tracey, Shane Melnick; daughter, Jessy Ray; step-sons, Ron Fleming, Christian Fleming, Jason Fleming; grandchildren, Keith, Kasandra, Jordyn, Dylan, Kylie, Shauny, Zach, Jaycee, Dominick, Abby, Timothy, Brittany; great grandchildren, Parker, Charlotte, Riker, Kage, Luka; brother, Mike(Marilyn)Melnick; sister, Cathy (Donnie) Murrant; sisters-in-law, Peggy, Joyce & Heather
John was predeceased by his parents Stanley & Agnes Melnick; wife, Sandy Melnick; brother, Stosh & Ed; and sister Maudge
At John’s request, no formal funeral services will be held.
