John P. O’Neill
1949 – 2022
John Patrick O’Neill, husband of Della (Adams) O’Neill of Miramichi Bay, NB, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on October 27, 2022 at the age of 73.
Born in Chatham, NB, on June 18, 1949, he was the son of the late Raymond and Adelia (Poirier) O’Neill. He worked at NB Power for 34 years first as a welder and then later as a Thermo Vision Camera Operator. In addition, he was the owner of the small business Bayside Welding. John was a member of the 25 year club with NB Power and belonged to Local Union 325 (Pipefitters Union). John took up running in his fifties and enjoyed running with the Running Room – having run several half marathons. Once retired from NB Power, John worked full time at his business, enjoyed going to the morning coffee club at Bay du Vin General store and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife Della (Adams) O’Neill; four daughters: Shirley O’Neill and Charlene O’Neill (Terry) all of Fredericton, Rachel Tsistinas (Mark) of Miramichi and Tina O’Neill-Cook (Michael) of Napan; one son, Rory O’Neill (Julie) of Bay du Vin; six grandchildren: Regan, Riley, Ava, Abby, Jaxon and Haylee; four sisters: Hazel McEwan of Greenwood, NS, Iona Jimmo of Escuminac, Dorothy Taylor of Napan Bay and Gail Gingras of Bay du Vin; two brothers: Norman O’Neill of Napan and Raymond O’Neill (Pierrette) of Escuminac. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers: Melvin and Donald.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A funeral service will occur at St. Stephen’s United Church, Black River Bridge, NB on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 2:30 pm with The Reverend David Allan as officiant. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to NB Extra Mural Program or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
