Jeanie Roberta Newman
June 15, 1936 – December 12, 2022
Newman, Jeanie Roberta, nee Cochrane, of Eastern Passage, NS, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the age of 86, at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Jeanie was born in Glace Bay, NS on June 15, 1936. She was the daughter of Robert Reid Cochrane and Gladys Mae (Allen) Cochrane. Jeanie is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Douglas; her son Robert (Bernie) Newman of Brampton, ON; her daughter Danette Newman of Eastern Passage, NS; her daughter Kim (Pat) O’Brien of Eastern Passage, NS; her grandchildren Jory O’Brien of Ottawa, ON; Quinn O’Brien of London, England; Caedon (Molly) Newman of Vancouver, BC; Andréa Newman of Courtney, BC; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jeanie was greatly involved in the Guiding movement for over 50 years, meeting Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Tour to Ottawa in 1952. She was greatly involved in her Church and loved singing in the Choir. She was an avid baker, knitter and after retirement she learned to quilt and play the dulcimer.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Eastern Passage Community Funeral Home.
A funeral will take place at Iona Presbyterian Church, 90 Lucien Drive, Dartmouth, on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and the Canadian Cancer Society.
