Janice Carole “Jan”
Hughes – 62, Valley.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our
kind hearted friend on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the
late Charles and Audrey (Rector) Hughes.
Jan had an easy going charm about her, along with a
contagious laugh that will be dearly missed by her cat, Leroy, her
friends, her family and employers, co-workers and customers of her 30
plus years of working at Northern Pulp in Debert and Truro
Horsemen’s Club in Bible Hill. Besides working, Jan
enjoyed karaoke, live performances and concerts, puzzles, darts,
baseball and hockey, especially Montreal Canadiens.
She was always there with a shoulder to cry on or an ear to
listen; many hugs and tears of joy and sorrow were shared with this
dear lady who we all considered a very dear friend. Being an only
child, Jan cherished the friendships with her girlfriends, the sisters
that she never had. We are forever grateful to have held a special
place in her life and us in hers. She will always have a special place
in our hearts.
Jan and Leroy shared a special bond; she rescued him when he
was left abandoned and they were inseparable. Along with aunts, uncles
and cousins, Jan had a wide circle of friends who will dearly miss
her.
Celebration of Jan’s life will be held from 2-5
p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Truro Horsemen’s Club,
288 Main Street, Bible Hill. Interment will be held at a later date in
Bible Hill Cemetery, Warren Drive, Bible Hill. If so desired,
donations in Jan’s memory to Colchester SPCA or charity of
choice are welcomed.
