March 16th, 1944 – February 8th, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Sheppard announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 77. Born and raised in York Harbour, Harold was an avid fisherman, hunter, and builder. He loved nothing more than an early morning on the water in one of the many dories he built over the years. Many of his family’s fondest memories of him are from in the woods or on the open water. He worked most of his life as a carpenter and took great pride in his craft. Harold loved music, especially playing the accordion for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his 3 children, Murray (Beverley Kendell), Daphne (Brian) Kendell and Tim, 4 grandchildren, Candace (Jeff) Summers, Samantha (Jordan) Chaffey, Josh (Emily Wadden) Kendell and Stephanie; 4 great grandchildren Zach, Alex, Grayson and Sophia; brothers and sisters, sister in law Marina, Catherine Bourgeois (Larry House), Roy (Madonna), George (Hazel), brother in law Terry Gilbert and Ivan, as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Grace, parents Noble and Jessie (nee Wheeler), brothers and sisters Dorothy (Gerald) Byrne, Florence (Garfield) Hickman, Barbara Gilbert, Gerald, Eric, and brother-in-law Bud Bourgeois. Many thanks to the staff of Western Memorial hospital who have provided care to Harold over the past number of years.
Granting Harold’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on May 22nd, 2022 from 1-2p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2p.m. The funeral service will be live streamed.
