Gordon Wade Proctor
October 31, 1970 – November 11, 2022
It is with great sadness that our family lost Gordon Wade Proctor on November 11, 2022 due to pneumonia. He was the son of Brian D’Arcy Proctor (deceased) and is survived by his mother Lee, his brother Andrew (Veronica), their son Finnegan, and his aunt Sheila (Soren) Madsen.
Gord was born on October 31, 1970 and spent his early childhood in Toronto living in Wedd’s House at Upper Canada College where his father was the House Master. In 1983 our family moved to Port Hope Ontario where he attended Trinity College School. There, Gord discovered painting and print making and music, all of which shaped the rest of his life. He also met the artist David Blackwood there, who mentored him for many years.
He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from York University. He showed his paintings, prints, and sculptures in Ontario and Quebec. He also played and performed in many rock bands throughout his life. Gord later lived briefly in Vancouver B.C. before returning to Toronto, and then recently to Port Hope, where he passed away. He will be remembered for his wonderful and often absurd sense of humor, his fierce love of, and loyalty to, family and friends, and his devotion to art and music.
We are also so lucky to have so much of his beautiful art that reveals all the beauty that he saw in the world, and in all of you. Cremation has taken place. At this time, no public service is planned. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
