Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gerarda Butt announce her passing on Monday, October 10th, 2022 in the Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit at the age of 70 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband of 51 years, James Butt; her son, Jack Butt; daughter, Paula Butt (Sean Hann); three grandchildren: Ryan Mitchell, Taylor Mitchell, and Jordan Butt; three great-grandchildren: Jay, Neveah, and Sabastian; her siblings: Jack McCarthy (Elaine), Ken Campbell (Kay), Rhona Watt (Jim), Colin Campbell (Ros), Corrine Leslie (Andy), Neala Smyth (Mark), Danny Campbell (Margaret), Janet Simmons (Donnie), Donna Meredith (Barry), and Mary Louise Pike; her sisters-in-law: Helen Butt, and Lorraine; and brothers-in-law: Ron Butt (Janet), and Orvan; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends. Gerarda is predeceased by her parents, Neil and Eileen Campbell; sister: Judy Hutchings; and her niece: Michelle Hutchings.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their kindness, care, and support during Gerarda’s time of need. As well as a special thank you to Gerarda’s niece, Dianne Butt-Bennett for all of your devotion to making Gerarda’s journey as comfortable as possible. It is truly appreciated.
There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. For those wishing to honour Gerarda, a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her memory. There will be a Celebration of Life held for Gerarda at a later date.
