It is with great sadness we announce the
passing of Doreen Muriel Oulton, age 97 ,
of Northport. Doreen passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Linden, she was a daughter of
the late Walter and Mary (Mitchell) Greeno.
Doreen spent her early years teaching.
She met the love of her life, Hibby, who she married in 1947 and
settled down in Northport where they had two children. She spent 30
plus years tending the Esso gas pumps where she always ran to the
pumps, never walked. Doreen and Hibby enjoyed taking bus tours and
travelling in their motorhome to various destinations. They enjoyed
camping with the Sunrise Campers. She was a long standing member of
the Sunrise Senior Citizens and UCW. She enjoyed gardening, walks to
the beach and taking their antique cars to the car shows with her
beloved husband.
She is survived by her son, Rodger
(Sylvia), her daughter, Carolyn (Chris), a granddaughter, Amanda (Rick
Leger), great grandson, Bailey; three step grandsons, Keith, Chris
& Brad; and eight step great grandchildren. She is also
survived by her only living sister, Elma Greeno.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband Hibbert “Hibby”, and brothers, Norman and
Kenneth and sisters, Laura, Eileen and Beryl.
The family would like to thank Dr Dan,
Dr Short, Jillian, Martha, nurses and staff at the Cumberland Regional
Health Care and the staff at Continuing Care for their loving care and
support.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777)
where an Afternoon of Remembrance will take place on Wednesday October
26th from 1 pm until 3 pm with special words at 2 pm. A private family
burial will take place.
Donations in memory of Doreen can be
made to Lorneville Cemetery or Cumberland Health Care
Foundation.
