In Celebration of
Domenica Daoust (nee Mariano)
February 28, 1924 –
January 4, 2022
Passed away peacefully at the age of 97 years. Survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Paul Daoust; her loving children Diana (Paul Cleland), Pierre, and Danielle; her brother Remigio; her grandchildren Andrew (Leah Woolner) and Katherine (Khalil Saade) and her precious great-granddaughter, Olivia Domenica Saade. Predeceased by her parents, Domenico and Yolanda, and her sister, Maria (Vincenzo Calafiore). Proud aunt to Rosemary (Robert Polomeno) and Nino (Judy) Calafiore and great-aunt to Laura, Bill, Carla, Ari, Debra, Mark, Jennifer, Chris, Jay, and Ashley. Cousin to Rita, Mario and Dina Castracane.
Throughout her life, Domenica’s positive attitude, good nature, warmth, and resilience brought joy and strength to everyone who knew her. She loved her garden, history, art, sewing, and reading. Proud of her Italian heritage, she kept it alive through the stories and food that she shared with her family during the dinners and celebrations that she hosted with her husband. Her cheer and storytelling enlivened the room and taught us to cherish coming together as a family. Those that remember her find solace and inspiration in the long and happy life that she lived and the wonderful memories that they shared with her. She will be deeply missed, but will live on forever in our hearts.
Her family is profoundly grateful to the wonderful staff of Residence Floralies Lachine and the Jewish General Hospital. Family and friends will join together to celebrate her life at a later date.
