“Kees” de Graaf –
age 78, formerly of Lower Canard, passed away peacefully in the Valley
Regional Hospital in Kentville on Thursday, November 24, 2022. He was
born on October 20, 1944, in Oosterhout, The Netherlands. He was the
oldest of five children of the late John and Cornelia (van den
Diepstraten) de Graaf. At almost seven years of age, he and his family
moved to New Brunswick, Canada. He completed his education in Ontario
and then moved back to New Brunswick before eventually raising his
family in Nova Scotia. Over the years his farming activities included
apples, rotational field crops, dairy, hogs, chickens, turkeys,
rabbits, and tobacco. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic
Church and the Lions Club. He enjoyed his many family gatherings and
golf games. He was a very caring and quiet man; never speaking ill of
others. He was predeceased by his parents and stepmother, Elisabeth
(aka Lies). He leaves behind his loving wife, Irma (Gavel) (Parker);
six children and their spouses, Michael (Janice), Jerry (Michelle),
Greg (Melissa), Jason (Tammy), Tina, Trish; four siblings, Henk
(Linda), Catharina (Gerard Ansems (late)), Adrian (Deborah), and Peter
(Stephanie); many nieces, nephews, stepchildren, grandchildren/step
grandchildren, great-grandchildren/step great-grandchildren, and
several step great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be
held in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville at 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, November 30, 2022. For those unable to attend, a livestream
of the service will be available at that time. Following the funeral,
a private family burial will take place in the Saint Francis of Assisi
Church Cemetery, Ridge Road, Wolfville. Donations in Kees memory may
be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
