Obituary
MOOD, Corey Carl – The Nova Scotia Seafood Community mourns the loss of one of their key members with the unexpected passing of Corey Mood. He was the guiding light for James L. Mood Fisheries and was well known and respected throughout the industry and his community. Corey lit up a room with his presence, and was adored by his family, friends, and business associates. He was rock solid. If he took a position on any issue, he stood by it. Corey loved the seafood business; every deal, every scheme, every new opportunity was cause for excitement. He never let the day-to-day issues bog him down and always looked at the big picture. Partners, fishermen and friends knew that Corey’s word was gold, and his support was unconditional. Life was a remarkable adventure to Corey, and he lived life to the fullest. The one thing he loved more than fish was his family. Corey cherished the time spent with his wife Wanda. His pride was unmatched for his daughter and her family. He would say all the time how lucky he was to get a grandson, and his pride doubled when his second grandson arrived 8 months ago. He was always there for his entire extended family and was the first one to brag about their accomplishments and help them fulfill their life goals. Corey was always involved in sports in one way or another. Hockey and baseball were his favorites. He would often tell anyone who would listen, that sports are the way to meet people and you will always have that connection. This was a motto that Corey used in every aspect of his life. Corey’s passing comes as an enormous shock to all who knew him. He will be mourned worldwide. From Brussels to Beijing, from Boston to Brier Island, his friends will cherish the memories he has left with them. Corey has left a mark on all our lives, and “he will be missed!” He is survived by his father James, wife Wanda, daughter Natasha, son-in-law Matthew, grandsons Ethan and Owen and step grandson Adrien. Corey is also survived by siblings, Debbie (John), Almond (Shirley), Andrea (Andrew), Dougie (Tuesday). Father-in-law Herbie Atwood (Joan), sisters-in-laws Heather (Lawrence), and Christine (Joel), brother-in-law Angus (Jackie). Nieces and nephews, Leah, Johnna, James, Kattiann, Sidney, Jackie James, Kenda, Kalinda, Katrina, Graydon, Benji, Victoria, Faith, Brandon, Heidi, Vanessa, Joelle, Beth, Tristan, and Travis as well as 24 grand nieces and nephews. Corey was predeceased by his son Rhian and his mother Kay. Visitation will be Sunday, August 28, 6-9 pm at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral Service will be Monday, August 29, 2 pm at Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena, Sherose Island. Reception to follow at the Barrington Regional Curling Club, Sherose Island. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Woods Harbour. Donations in Corey’s memory can be made to The Roseway Hospital Foundation or a local charity of your choice.
