O’Connell, Colleen Marie (Hourihan)
Our beloved wife and mother passed away on October 8, 2022.
Born in Halifax on May 15th, 1958, Colleen was the third child of Francis and Marian (Edwards) Hourihan. She is survived by her husband Hal, sons John and Brian, her sister Maureen Ebsary, and by her brother Michael Hourihan. Colleen had a career as a researcher, earning a Bachelor degree in Science, a Master degree in Arts and finally a Doctorate in Developmental Psychology. She worked at Carleton University in Ottawa, and later in the Reproductive Care Program and the Perinatal Epidemiology Research Unit of the IWK Hospital. Colleen was an avid crocheter and amateur candy maker, especially her almond bark and truffle mice. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, bright smile, and wonderful laugh. She is missed every day. Funeral Mass will be offered at Saint John XXIII Church, Colby Drive, the date and other details to be announced. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
