It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Olsson.
Carl was born in Prince George on December 28, 1960, to Ester and Hubert Olsson as the youngest of three children. Around the age of six, he and his family relocated to the small village of Sirdar where he spent his childhood outdoors hunting, fishing, and helping his mother raise horses.
In 1987 he married the love of his life, Nikki, and moved to the coast for schooling. After graduation they found themselves drawn back to the Kootenays, settling down in Nelson where Carl found work with the City and Nelson Hydro, staying for 30 years until his retirement in 2018.
Carl was a loving father to Kris (Ciara) and Kim (Tony), and most recently an amazing grandfather to Khloe and Hana. Carl is predeceased by his wife Nikki, father and mother, Hubert and Ester, as well as his older sister Marlene.
After a two year battle with cancer, Carl passed peacefully at home surrounded by family.
We would like to thank all of his friends and family with the City of Nelson and Nelson Hydro, as well as others who knew him in a professional and personal capacity. He didn’t realize how many people he had an impact on in those 30 years. We would also like to extend a big thank you to Dr Kyle Merritt and the team at KLH for helping him as much as they could.
Carl will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him. He had a spark and way for life that was truly infectious and was one of a kind.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Carl Olsson December 28 1960
