It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Basil on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in his ninetieth year. Beloved husband of Gloria Gruber for sixty-seven years. Loving father and father-in-law of Barry Cohen and Lisa Steinberg, Doreen and Larry Klar, Lori Cohen and Andy Thompson. Cherished grandfather of Jonathan and Allie Klar, Matthew Klar and Tali Filler; Lucas Cohen, and Michelle Cohen. Proud great-grandfather of Avery Klar. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Doodie and Mona Saltzman, and Elaine and the late Bernie Cohen. Basil was a real family man. He led a full life and was a great friend to many. He will be so very greatly missed. The family is grateful for the kindness and outstanding care provided by staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Beth El Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Due to Covid the family requests that masks be worn in the chapel. Shiva strictly private.
