von Busse, Andreas “Andy” Hermann Hardy Otto
The family of Andy von Busse of Big Valley, AB, are saddened to announce his unexpected passing on October 1, 2022 at the age of 71 years. Andy was born in Hamelin, Germany on August 29, 1951, and moved to Canada at the age of 4. He spent most of his life in St. Albert, AB before retiring to Big Valley, AB and Florida in the winters.
Andy is survived by his children, Coreen (Greg) Nelson of Innisfail, Chris (Delacey) von Busse of Penhold; 5 grandchildren, Charlie, Oliver, Maggie, Colton and Jocelyn and his former wife Esther von Busse. He is also survived by his sister, Vicky (John Riva-Cambrin) von Busse, and his cousin, Beatrice Neufeldt, along with numerous special friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Gisela von Busse and father, Hermann von Busse.
Andy was a passionate life long volunteer. Over his life he volunteered for a number of organizations that were dear to his heart. Most notably the Alberta Fish and Game Association, Antelope Creek Ranch, The Nature Conservatory, The Northern Alberta Business Incubator, The Endangered Species Conservation Committee, The Rotary Club of St. Albert, The Alberta Conservation Association, The Canadian Wildlife Federation, The Alberta Regulatory Review Committee, The Historical Society of Big Valley and The Alberta Prairie Railway.
He was the recipient of numerous awards for his volunteerism and his dedication to the environment, most noted was The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medal.
Andy loved travelling and anything and everything outdoors, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and more recently canoeing and touring around on his motorbike. He was always so proud of his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren at their various activities.
A celebration of life and reception will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at 2:00 pm at the St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Andy may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
