Wilson (nee Smart), Roberta Ione
“A Jewel”

Born in Euphrasia Township on November 12, 1929, Ione was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lillian (nee Prentice) Smart.
She grew up on the farm behind Old Baldy spending her spare time on the rock cliff reading books.
She graduated Grade 13 in 1947 from the Thornbury School and began teaching at the Rosedale School near Markdale.
In 1949 she married Ian Wesley Wilson of Kimberley and left teaching to be a full time wife and mother. Ione was predeceased by her adored husband in January 17, 1969. She will be remembered as the loved mother of Corrie and his wife Patricia, Murray and his friend Susan Merriam, Sherril and her husband Ron Hardwood, Yvonne and her partner Terry Nakeff, Ruth, Lindsay and his partner Darlene Kamrath.
She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Kathleen Wilson (Dale) and her son-in-law Gary Formanek. She will also be fondly remembered by Colleen Dunn and Lyla McConnell.
Ione was a dear sister to Calvin and his wife May, Marylin (late David Dinsmore), Karen Crouse and her husband David, and sister-in-law Vera Smart. She was predeceased by her brother Merle, sister Helen Redhead and brother Franklin.
“Nana” – A Nana’s there when mom can’t be to lend a helping hand. Giving life that extra special touch that only Nana’s can. So God invented a Nana and we’re so glad it’s you!
She was the loved Nana to her 14 Grandchildren: Tammy, Bobbi Jo, Angela, Eldon, Matthew, Anita, Wesley, Peter, Sonya, Eric, Tara, Troy, Cassondra and Victoria. Her 12 Great Grandchildren: Benjamin, Emily, Taylor, Haydyn, Michaela, Mackenzie, Josh, Jack, Gary, Luke, Claire and William and her Great Great Grandchild Connor.
