December 31, 1929 – September 21, 2021
Called to his eternal home, by his Lord and Saviour at the age of 91.
Sadly missed by his sons David (Katherine) and Mark (Jodi). Beloved grandfather to Matthew, Mandi and Nathan Schmidt. Loving brother of Virginia Schmidt. Predeceased by his cherished wife of 65 years, Clara, beloved son Robert, brother Murray Schmidt and his parents Clayton and Clara Schmidt.
Bill was a longtime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. A meat-cutter by trade, Bill was also very artistic producing many oil paintings of beautiful scenery, many of which were purchased throughout the region.
The family is most grateful to all the caregivers at St. Mary’s Hospital for the extended period of care Bill received there and those at Freeport Hospital during his brief stay there.
Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the chapel on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Those wishing to attend Bill’s visitation and or funeral service must RSVP by visiting the funeral home website or by telephone. All are welcome to join Bill’s family for his service via live stream by visiting www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming beginning at 10:15 am.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 322 East Ave., to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
