William “Bill” Rufus Elderkin
1940-2021
Bill Elderkin, 80, of Riverside-Albert passed away suddenly
on January 7th, 2021 at the Moncton Hospital.
Bill was born in Apple River, Cumberland Co., NS on
December 23, 1940, the son of the late Guy and Emily (Wilson)
Elderkin.
Bill was raised in Apple River, NS and came from a large
family with 14 Siblings. He helped on the family farm in his early
years and this is where he found his love of nature. He loved
animals and especially his horses. Bill worked as a
lumberman for most of his life. He loved working in the
woods and even just walking through the trails. He enjoyed
tinkering in his garage on his truck and tractor and also just working
around the yard. Bill was a quiet man but enjoyed driving
through the community and seeing what was happening. He made
sure to visit the local convenience store and some of his
neighbors on his daily trips around the village.
He is gone but will live on in the hearts of his family
forever.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Golda (Graves)
Elderkin; his children, Kevin Elderkin (Stephanie) of Weldon and Karen
Elderkin (Brian) of Toronto, ON; sister, Ferne LeBlanc (Eric) of PEI;
sisters-in-law, Grace Elderkin of Riverside-Albert, Sheila Steeves
(Norval) of Salem and Pat Tingley of Hopewell Cape; brothers-in-law,
Gilbert MacNutt of Fredericton and Paul Graves of Weldon. He
will also be missed by many nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Zenith,
Carol, Virginia “Clara”, Dorothy, June and Mildred;
brothers, Douglas, Clifford, Sherman, Verdun, Sydney, Wyman, and
Edward; sister-in-law, Cindy Graves.
Honouring Bill’s own wishes there will be no visitation or
funeral service.
Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill,
NB at a later date.
For those who wish donations in Bill’s memory to the
Hopewell Cemetery or to the charity of your choice would be greatly
appreciated by the family.
