Bill was a Massey Ferguson farm machinery dealer in Listowel for 25 years and was a member of their Dealer Council. After selling the business in 1977 he was a district sales manager for the Gehl Company until he retired to Point Clark in 1991.
He was an active member of the Kinsmen and K-40 clubs of Listowel and spent many hours at the Curling Club as both a curler and ice maker. Bill also loved hunting and fishing and he and Shirley spent many hours chasing salmon in Lake Huron and delivering tickets for the Chantry fish derby.
In retirement Bill started wood carving and their home is adorned with many examples of his work. He also enjoyed reading and following his favorite sports on TV. Some of his happiest times were spent on the deck at their home surrounded by family or friends, enjoying the beauty of the lake, playing cards and sharing lots of laughs (and maybe a few house drinks) around the firepit.
He will be missed by many friends and family.
Cremation has taken place, with a private family service and interment in Pine River Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce or the charity of your choice as expressions of sympathy and can be arranged online or by contacting the funeral home.
