Obituary for
Viola Poirier (Tremblay)
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of our matriarch, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother of Viola Madeleine Tremblay-Poirier. Vye passed away quietly at home Sunday morning three days before her 92nd birthday. Vye was born on the 25th of August 1929, the sixth child of fourteen children of Donat Tremblay and Rose Alba L’Heureux. Having such a large family, Viola grew up a determined, self motivated young woman, she was able to receive enough education to understand commerce and had great were-with-all as how to invest her money, time and love. She met the love of her life, Rolly Poirier at a small dance as a fifteen year old and they began a love story that lasted 61 years, and we believe will go on forever. Married on the 24 September 1947, they quickly began to raise a family, through the joys, happiness, good times and bad times. Sadly missed by her children, Barbara Tremblay (Reginald), Patricia Poirier, Rolland Jr. (Sandra) and Raymond Poirier (Gary Good). Loving grandmother of John, Allan, Kimberley, Jason, Mathieu, Valerie, Craig, Sarah, Rebecca, Jared, and great grandmother of Elodie, Matthis, Alexandre, Emy, Steve, Melanie, Camille, Rebecca, Cassandra, Kaytlin, Kevin, Ahri, Ted and Ross, great great grandchild Winnifred, and another one arriving shortly. Dear sister of Clauviette, Della Theriault, Fernand Tremblay and Raymond Tremblay. Predeceased by her husband Rolly, daughters Elizabeth McChesney and infant Stella Poirier, her parents Donat and Rose-Alda Tremblay, her sister Irene Dummolin, Jeannette Belair and her brothers Roland, Leo, Roger and Leonard Tremblay. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank Viola’s neighbours, especially Tom and Lise Buczkowski for watching over her through the years. Everyone who knew Viola knew she was the life of the party, she loved to entertain with her culinary delights, dance, music, fun and laughter. She loved her family and would tell story after story of her childhood, teen years and adult life. Mom’s home is empty now. She has gone on to her Heavenly home, but her love and memory will live on in our hearts. A scheduled visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 with a scheduled funeral in the chapel to follow. Any person wishing to attend the visitation and/or funeral MUST call the funeral home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 705-264-4444 during the hours of 9am and 4pm to schedule a time. Masks and social distancing measures will be required. Remembrance donations to Timmins and District Hospital Foundation – Maternity Ward would be greatly appreciated. The Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
