Vern Lloyd Pace June 15 2021

Obituary
On June 15, 2021 Vern Lloyd Pace passed away at the age of 91 at the Northcott Care Centre in Ponoka, Alberta. Vern was born in Perdue, Saskatchewan to Cicely and Percy Pace. He was the eldest of two sons. He married his first wife, Anne Elizabeth Hurren, on November 11, 1950 in Estevan, Saskatchewan. They eventually moved to Swift Current and then to Edmonton in 1967.
He married his second wife, Ruth Semeniuk, in 1981 and eventually settled in Ponoka. After spending a number of years in sales in the oil field supply industry, Vern left the industry to try his hand in other avenues of employment. He settled in sales with Amway where he and Ruth worked together and received the Diamond Level achievement award. Through work and community involvement he developed many close friendships.
Vern is predeceased by his wife Ruth, his brother Clare Allan Pace of Sugarland, Texas and his grandson David Paul Goldsmith of Ardrossan, Alberta. He is survived by his children: Patricia (Derrick Goldsmith), Vernessa, Heather Majeau (Gary Middaugh), Randy (Jackie), Kevin and daughter-in-law Sonnie; and Ruth’s children Bruce Semeniuk (Chris), Trudi (Bob Tilley), and Laurie (Jim Thain); 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
He spent the last several years with dementia and the challenges it presents in the Apollo Unit at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury in Ponoka and most recently in the Northcott Care Centre in Ponoka. We would like to extend a very special thank-you to all the staff at both facilities who took such great care of him and made him feel comfortable and cared for in the last years of his life.
A celebration of Vern’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ponoka at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
