Obituary of Valma Coombs
It is with profound sadness that the family of Valma Coombs (née Morgan), announce her peaceful passing at Sarsfield Colonial Home in Ottawa Ontario, on Thursday April 22, 2021, at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her parents Jacob Morgan and Jessie Morgan (née Mitchell); her sister, Greta Benoit; brothers, Frank, William and Jacob Jr; and son, Rodney Coombs.
She is survived by her sisters Francis Beck, Barbara Morgan, and her former husband Gerald Coombs. She was the loving mother of Bradley (Loraine) and Blaine Coombs (Kristen), and the cherished grandmother of Angela (Chris), Geoff and Nathanael. She will be deeply missed by relatives across Canada and her many friends.
A kind and outgoing person, Valma enjoyed meeting people. She easily made friends wherever her travels took her. She cherished lifelong friendships particularly with Vonnie Sheppard and Ina Norman. She grew up on Station Road in Humbermouth (Corner Brook), Newfoundland, and had fond memories of Brigus where she lived during her father’s posting with The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
Cremation has taken place at the Heritage Funeral Complex in Ottawa, Ontario. No service will be taking place at this time; the family will hold a service in the future in Corner Brook when travel restrictions have been lifted.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to a charity of one’s choice. The family guest book can be signed at heritagefh.ca/tribute/past-services/index.html.
