Shirley June Mills (Janes) of Shoal Harbour passed peacefully away with her son by her side at Lakeside Home, Gander on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, just a few weeks before her 81st birthday. Predeceased by her loving husband Merlin, brother Bob Janes (Linda), sister Allison Bowering (Clarence); sister-in-law Jean Mills; brothers-in-law Corwin Mills and John McNeill and many dear friends. Forever loved, never forgotten, Shirley will be remembered by her children Jeff (Lisa), June (Paul), Keith (Michelle) and John (Jody); grandchildren Jason, David, Victoria, Jaric, Miranda, Jane, Sara and Noah; great grandchildren Savanna, Sydney, Paula and Leslie; sister Myra Andrews (Keith); sisters-in-law Rowena McNeill and June Mills; brother-in-law Archie Mills; as well as many very special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Clarenville. Private visitation will be on Friday March 5, 2021 by invitation only. Funeral Service will be on March 6, 2021 at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville, with interment to follow at Shoal Harbour United Church Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date when Covid-19 restrictions will allow.
Shirley married the love of her life at an early age and together they shared over 50 wonderful years. Shirley was a very special person who was loved by many. She was an active volunteer in the community and was known for supporting and helping others through difficult times. Shirley is now re-united with Merlin, playing cards and ensuring he eats his broccoli!
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeside Homes for caring for her in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Shirley’s life may be made in her name to Lakeside Homes in Gander.
